LLOYD is also aware of its corporate responsibility in the field of environmental protection and believes in the responsible use of
resources and energy in all areas. This begins even at the logistics stage, when LLOYD ensures that transport journeys remain short by
purchasing the materials required close to production locations. Not only in Germany, but also at our Romanian locations, high priority
is granted to keeping the number of journeys as low as possible thanks to efficient loading of HGVs and the amalgamation of different
transport loads. In order to reduce energy consumption, LLOYD has been using modern compressors for compressed air production for the
last two years. These not only provide energy savings of 20%, but also satisfy 100% of warm water demand in summer with the waste heat
produced.
Consumption of materials of every kind is pre-specified. These target values are regularly compared with the actual values achieved in
order to identify any weak points in how resources are used. The consumption of solvents is even specified by an EU regulation and should
not exceed 25 grams per pair of shoes – LLOYD shoes fall below this limit by up to 20%. A solvent recovery programme has also led to
massive reductions in the solvent waste classified as toxic waste.
And LLOYD would not be LLOYD if its commitment to the environment was not also exercised in its products – quite literally. The Goodyear soles used by LLOYD are thus not tanned with chrome, as is conventional, but exclusively using plant-based and organic raw materials. What's more, the shoes in the LLOYD Nature collection are entirely natural products, manufactured from renewable raw materials.
